"Tallgrass On Paint Creek" oil by Matthew Richter

16"X20", oil on canvas

Toward sunset in mid fall the fire colored Indian Grass blossoms from a seven foot panicle in the prairie bottom lands along creek beds. Tall Bluestem makes it's bolt toward the sky. Brilliant lemony yellow Goldenrod gleams like the sun. The delicate Evening Primrose opens in late afternoon and looses it's blossoms one at a time moving up the stem, each open for only one day. It is starting a count down toward the first cold night.
