Before the European American the great herds of buffalo knew the smoke and fire and moved when forced by prairie fires. The renewal of these rich, tall grass systems was accomplished by the strikes of lightning creating fires that burned untouched for weeks across the prairies. Fire was essential as it carved new space for grasses out of the timbered valleys of the Flint Hills in Kansas. It was fire and buffalo that nourished a people for thousands of years. The day will come when they return.
Framed in a striking six inch black and gold with four simple but distinctive moldings.
